18 Months Old!

Posted by Chelsea on Monday Mar 22, 2010 Under Infancy

I can’t believe that Lu is 18 months old.  She’s become such a KID but she’s still our baby.  We love her so much, she continues to amaze us every day!

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree it seems 😉

As you can see, she’s learned how to take off her diaper!  She’s been sitting on her potty and can tell us when she’s going potty but she hasn’t put the two together yet.  She has yet to go potty in the actual potty. 🙂

When she was nakey on Friday she peed in her plastic chair and then as I was cleaning the chair she was in the kitchen with me and started peeing again.  She looked at the pee like “WHAT IS THAT?!?!?  WHY IS THERE WATER coming out of me?”  I explained to her that it was pee and that’s what she did when she went potty.  I told her that her diaper catches it now and asked if she wanted to put her diaper back on.  She nodded her head emphatically “YES” and went and got a diaper for me to put on her.

How cute is she?

We have her 18 months appointment next Monday.  I’ll be sure to update you!  And just because it’s my favorite picture, here she is again!

Growing Up

Posted by Chelsea on Sunday Aug 16, 2009 Under Infancy

We’ve been working and playing hard! Lucy has gotten to be so much FUN! It’s not that she wasn’t fun before but she’s just blossomed. Her personality is coming out, she’s mobile, she plays with you and by herself, she giggles, she makes us laugh. It’s just a really fun age. Rather than a baby we have this little person in our house now 🙂 She’s growing up and fast. Part of me is excited and another part of me is sad. There’s only a little over a month left until she turns 1 and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone. She’s even in a big girl carseat now! She’s also GROWN. We had our 6 week weight check-in this past week and she gained almost 2 pounds in 6 weeks! The doctor was very happy. She’s now right at 17 pounds and just over 28 inches-the 10th and 50th percentile respectively. She’s now has 9 teeth! She’s got her two bottom front teeth, her bottom front molars (on each side), her left eye tooth, left canine, left upper front, right upper front, and right eye tooth. For a few days there she had her left upper front, left eye tooth, and left canine tooth and NO right upper teeth-it was a funny sight. Last night the 2 left uppers came in so now she looks a little more even 🙂

In the last month Lucy has had visitors, she went camping at the beach (and successfully did a 4 hour car drive), and went to the park-many, many, MANY times!

Here’s some pictures!

We’ve had a request for a picture of our bird, Azul. Azul has been living with us for 4 years now and can do many tricks. Here she is outside on her leash:

Lucy Goes to the Park

Posted by Shaun on Sunday Jul 19, 2009 Under Infancy

Mommy had a bunch of work to do so Auntie Elaina and Uncle Richard came up to visit with their dog Brea. We took a trip to the park so that Mommy could have some quiet time to concentrate.

Lucy wasn’t at all afraid of Brea which was surprising to me since she was SO much bigger than Lucy and got right in Lucy’s face. I’m guessing Lucy is used to the cat mauling her for pets by this point.

Lucy Really Likes Food – and Shoes!

I just got an iPhone and so now I can share more Lucy stuff with everyone! Here’s a slideshow I was able to make thanks to PixRemix, an application my company developed and released in June.

Holy Molar!!!!

Posted by Chelsea on Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 Under Infancy

Lucy got another tooth last night and from the title you may have guessed that she got a molar!!! Her “left first molar” to be exact!

I called daycare yesterday at lunch to check in on her and they told me that she wasn’t eating and was being really fussy. Shaun and I thought we saw her pulling her ear on Sunday so I called the doctor. We went in and he told us that she may be refusing to eat for 2 reasons-either she’s finding her independence and wants to feed herself (which she promptly took food from my hand and signed for “more” when she was done to prove the doctor’s point) or that she’s getting her molars and her mouth hurts. “Her molars?” I asked, “but she only has her front 2 bottom teeth!” The doctor assured me that kids can get their teeth in any order and her molar looked like it was about to come through.

Sure enough, last night at 7-demon child arrived and left with her the outside edge of the left first molar!!! She is an individual-that’s for sure!

Here’s our little 3 teeth wonder:

Photobucket

Less than 12 hours after getting her third tooth Lucy decided it was time to stop practicing and time to START CRAWLING. I swear she’s been practicing for well over a month now but couldn’t really get anywhere except pushing herself backwards. Well-Not anymore! She’s crawling-check her out:

As you can see from the video she is VERY proud of herself!

An exciting 12 hours in the Titus household!!!

9 Month Appointment

Posted by Chelsea on Friday Jul 3, 2009 Under Infancy

Lucy had her 9 month appointment on Monday. It was a difficult appointment for Mommy. Lucy has always been little but at this weigh-in she slipped to under the 5th percentile for weight which concerns the doctor. It’s hard to hear that your doctor is concerned. Lucy is a great eater, the teachers at daycare have even commented that she’s probably going to be one of those people that can eat and eat and eat and never gain weight-kinda like her Dad. With all this eating she’s still only 15 pounds. Here were her stats:

Height: 27 Inches ~50th Percentile
Weight: 15 pounds even >5th Percentile
Head Circumference: 17.75 inches ~80th Percentile

Lucy has always had allergies or sensitivities. We can only use a certain kind of detergent, we can’t use wipes on her, only Huggies and 7th Generation diapers don’t give her a rash, most bath products give her a rash, when I eat milk it gives her a rash and on and on. I tried giving her yogurt at 7 months and she got a rash and eczema so we’ve been avoiding dairy. She also got a rash from soy formula and I thought a rash from wheat. I explained all of this to the doctor and he said that it didn’t sound like typical allergy symptoms and more like “sensitivities”. He would rather we deal with the rashes and give her a wide variety of food than limit her food intake. To be sure though, he got blood drawn and tested her for allergies. Lucy handled the blood draw like a champ-that was not fun-they take it out of their arm just like on an adult 🙁 Her tests came back yesterday and she showed no allergies. I gave her wheat yesterday and today with no issue. I gave her some soy formula ~4 ounce the entire week (when I don’t pump enough) and she did get a rash on her chin but not too terribly bad. I’m starting to eat dairy again and I think I’m going to try dairy again with her on Sunday.

To tell the truth, I left her appointment on Monday in tears. It was a hard day. But, I am feeling much better about things and since then I started really pushing the solids. Before her appointment here was a typical day for Lucy:

~6:30 AM Nurse
~8:30 AM 2 ounces of fruit mixed with 1/8 cup cereal
~10:30 AM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~12:30 PM 4 ounces vegetables with 1/2 ounce protein (chicken, beef, or beans) and some veggies as finger foods
~1:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~4:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~6 PM Nurse
~6:30 PM 2 ounces of Vegetables, some protein and rice puffs as finger foods
~7:30 Nurse

And then she wakes up usually once to nurse in the middle of the night.

Well NOW she’s getting more than double the solids and still is taking the same amount of milk:

~6:30 AM Nurse
~8:30 AM 4 ounces of fruit mixed with 1/4 cup cereal
~10:30 AM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~12:30 PM 4 ounces vegetables with 1 ounce protein (chicken, beef, or beans) with 1/4 Avocado and 2 tsp of olive oil mixed in and 1/4 cup rice mixed in and some veggies as finger foods
~1:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~3:30 PM 2 ounces of fruit (new!)
~4:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~6 PM Nurse
~6:30 PM 4 ounces of Vegetables mixed with 1/4 avocado and 2 tsp olive oil plus rice cereal, some protein and rice puffs as finger foods
~7:30 Nurse

Yes our little 15 pounder is eating ALL OF THAT! 1/2 an avocado a day!!! Insanity I tell you!!!

I’m feeling better about things and what I keep coming back to is that developmentally she’s doing wonderfully! She’s ahead of the curve in a lot of respects or right on the curve. She’s still not crawling but I’m okay with that!!! This week alone she’s gained 3 new signs. She now signs for: “More”, “All Done”, and “Change”. She’s been signing for “Milk” for a few months now. She’s also making more sounds-“Ma Ma Ma Ma” (only sometimes), “Ne Ne Ne Ne” (when she’s hungry), “OH” (when she drops something), and of course her favorite “Da Da Da Da”. She’s also clapping (and making noise!) and dancing. She becomes more and more like a kid everyday!

Now, to the pictures!

Two Busy Weekends!

Posted by Chelsea on Wednesday Jun 17, 2009 Under Infancy

Wow have we ever been busy! Work is busy for both of us and then we’ve been out of town the last two weekends. We had fun but I’m really excited to have a weekend at home!

Two weekends ago we drove down to Monterey for Shaun’s first mountain bike race. He did a 2 man 8 hour race where he and his teammate traded off every hour or so. Lucy and Mommy were the pit crew.

It was exhausting!

We had a blast and Lucy was PHENOMENAL!

Here’s some pictures of Lucy and Daddy playing:

Last weekend we went camping again and Lucy discovered that she LOVES beer!

Walking the Plank!

Photobucket

Playing on her mat-she amused herself for 30 minutes at a time-this girl LOVES nature! She played with a leaf for a good 10 minutes.

Photobucket

On a hike-Lucy slept on the way up. We stopped by a beautiful Manzinita tree-too bad the entire group wanted a picture at the same time!

Photobucket

It was huge and beautiful:

Photobucket

At the top-Lucy just woke up

Photobucket

Oh and Daddy gets her on the way down. The good news? Mommy wasn’t sore from hiking 5 miles, half of that with Lucy on the front of her going up. YAY!

Photobucket

It was too cute-Lucy was testing her voice as Daddy walked down hill with her. She thought it was hilarious that her voice changed when Daddy went over bumps.

With our friend Joy:

This one is too cute to pass up:

Photobucket

Daddy practiced on his unicycle (shhhh….he’s holding on to a rope)

Photobucket

And that’s it for pictures 🙂

She’s still not crawling (thank you lord!) but is scooting all over the place! She’s also started babbling with consonants a lot more and we’re getting many “Da Da” “La La” “Ya Ya” but no “Ma Ma”. In time, right? She’s also loving feeding herself and her pincer grasp is really coming along (picking things up with her forefinger and thumb). Oh and walking with assistance? She’ll do that all day and night if you let her. And, she’s a dancing fool! We have to get video.

36 Weeks Old!

Posted by Chelsea on Monday Jun 1, 2009 Under Infancy

Holy moly-technically Lucy has been out of my body longer than she was in my body! The first 2 weeks of a pregnancy are actually the egg just being released and then fertilized and since I delivered at 37 weeks, she’s been out longer than she was in.

WOW does time ever fly! In the last week Lucy has gone from standing (with support) to walking with support. She’s been standing with support since December and she started pulling up on Mommy and Daddy about a month ago. She would take a step here and there but nothing consistent. Now she’s taking all sorts of steps and even walked from the living room to her bedroom yesterday (with Daddy’s help) to get her diaper changed. We got a video of the first time she took multiple steps but I’m having technical difficulties. Hopefully that will be posted later this week-maybe with another video showing how much she has progressed in the last week! Still no crawling! And we are A-OK with that. The longer she’s immobile the better!

She is getting more and more fun every day-she giggles, she has a great sense of humor, she’s making connections, but she’s also learning how to manipulate Mommy and Daddy! We’re working on not letting her, but it’s a learning experience and she probably will always manipulate us in some way!

Alright, what you’re all here for-Pictures!

And, finally, proof that she really does cry:

The separation anxiety is so bad sometimes that Mommy trying to take a picture of her means that Mommy is too far away-yes evidently 2 feet is too far away when it’s bad.

Mother’s Day

Posted by Chelsea on Tuesday May 19, 2009 Under Infancy

I’m know I’m over a week late but I have a really good excuse!  I just delivered a 100 page document to one of my clients last night that I started last Monday and finished last night at 10 PM. Plus Shaun was sick all last week so life has been a wee bit hectic!

But…

My first Mother’s Day was AWESOME!!!! My parents were in town and they spoiled me and my sweet husband and Lucy spoiled me.  Thank you!

The weekend started off with a card that Lucy made for me at daycare. It’s a handprint and oh so cute. I’d like to scan it in but haven’t gotten to that (yet). The card still makes me tear up a little bit-I love it!

Here’s some pictures.

Mother’s Day Morning:

Photobucket

Lucy and Shaun got me an awesome purse! I have (too) many bags and Shaun is always complaining about them. Our good friend Jill actually makes purses and I had fallen in love with one of them but knew that Shaun would not be happy if I bought another purse. Well, he bought it for me!

Photobucket

I LOVE THIS PURSE! You should check out all of Jill’s bags at: www.jillydesigns.com.

Shaun also got me two of the sweetest cards. One from him and one from Lucy. They were perfect.

My parents got me a very sweet book (that I have read Mom-it’s very sweet!), a Dr. Mao book, and a cd/dvd of this really neat music project.

Later that day we went to the park. First we walked through the Japanese Garden:

And then we went to the swings where Lucy actually had fun. She used to get all sleepy in the swing but not anymore!

And a good picture of her teeth (finally!):

Photobucket

She’s working on her top 2 front teeth but they haven’t popped through yet. You can also see her first bruise ever in this picture on her left cheek.  She whacked herself with a toy.  She didn’t cry but we heard the whack and she evidently got herself pretty good.

In other news-we think she lived on a tropical island in a previous life. She LOVES avocado, mango, and papaya. We can’t shovel it in fast enough. She also loves apples but it appears that she has an allergy to them :( She got a rash last week after we introduced apples. I’m going to try again in a few weeks. I’m also going to try yogurt this week. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here but Lucy is allergic to any and all milk products when I eat them so I’ve been completely dairy free since she was 3 weeks old. I’m supposed to try dairy every few months to see how she reacts but since we’ve been trying solids, I’ve been hesitant. The doctor said to try yogurt and see how she reacts. If she’s okay with yogurt that may mean that I can eat yogurt again. That would make me one very happy Mommy!

Lucy is also standing like a champ. Pulling herself up on Mommy and Daddy!!! But not yet on the furniture-thank goodness. She’s testing her standing ability lately by standing on one foot, then the other, holding on with one hand, letting go completely (!), and practicing falling back onto her butt versus just crashing off to the side (and on her head). She’s also thinking really hard about crawling. She’s scooching around and has all the different parts of crawling figured out, she just can’t put them together. We’re trying not to encourage it!

Can you believe she’ll be 8 months old in a few days?!?!?!
