Since we Last Talked

We moved!  Life has been crazy!  Hence 6 weeks of no posting-sorry about that!

There has been lots of cousin kissing:

We are having a blast here!  We love Boise and I think Lu loves it more.  She loves seeing Momma and Daddy so much AND she gets to see TESSA!!!!  Tessa is her very favorite person in whole wide world.  It is so amazing to see them play together and interact.  There is no doubt in my mind that we made the exact right decision in moving here.  I’ve never seen Lucy so happy.

Lucy has become quite the talker.  We’re getting some full sentences out of her and so many new words everyday.  She can now have pretty basic conversations on the phone.  Telling us “I love you!”.  Lu is also learning how to jump.  She likes to “Jump! Jump! Jump!”-she gets about half an inch off the ground but is has to be the cutest thing ever.  She has also learned how to put her shoes on.  She’s been taking them off for months but just this week, learned how to put them on.  She loves to pretend to “go nigh-nigh” in Mommy and Daddy’s bed.  She also knows yellow, pink, white, purple, blue, and red.  She can also count to five now and chimes in on the ABC’s quite often.  She doesn’t know all of her ABC’s but she does know quite a few.  She’s also started going down the big slides (with Mommy and Daddy of course).

I can’t believe that in a little over a month she’ll be 2.  Where has the time gone?

2 Big Milestones!!!

Posted by Chelsea on Friday Jun 18, 2010 Under Infancy

Lu has become quite the chatterbox and this past week she had 2 big milestones.  On Wednesday, I was talking to Shaun on the speaker phone and I said “Love you”. From the back seat, Lu says, “Love you!”  She’s said it about 20 times since then.  I LOVE IT.

This morning, I was getting ready and Lu and Daddy were playing.  I hear her say from the other room, “I got it off!”  Shaun yelled into me, “Did you hear that?  She said ‘I got it off!”  I’d say that’s her first real sentence that was formed correctly and that she hasn’t heard us say numerous times.  Smart girlie!!!

Lu’s Uncle Larry and Cousin Matt are here visiting and I will have a big post with pictures from that but in the meantime I have some pictures from earlier this week.

A friend from my Mommy board who lives in Kansas is in the area visiting her family.  We met up at the mall on Wednesday and had so much fun.

Mel and I met while pregnant on Baby Center and our group of girls always talked about Starbucks, Target, and Sonic Burger.  We just so happened to go to a mall that had a Target, a Starbucks and a Sonic Burger.  Kismet!

We met at Target, got some Starbucks, and then went and played.

Lu and Emme!

The four of us (kind of).  A better one of Emme:

A super silly one of Lu:

I finished the trip with a Cherry Limeade Slush.

I used to LOVE these things and I was so excited to have a splurge BUT this was utterly disgusting.  It was so sweet and just tasted of syrup.  I drank about a fourth of it and had to stop.

Oh well!

Can you believe that we move in a week?!?!?!

Belbow and Bubboes!!!

Posted by Chelsea on Sunday May 16, 2010 Under Infancy

Another crazy busy week in the Titus Household!

The big bright spot is little miss Lu!  She is talking more and more and letting her preferences be KNOWN.  One area that she is VERY clear about is her wardrobe.  On Monday, I tried to put on her pink sneakers and she absolutely did NOT want those.  She wanted her red Chucks.  I also tried to put on her pink Paul Frank sweatshirt and she wanted the green one.  It all totally worked together but isn’t what I would put together.

image

She’s also been picking out shoes for Mommy.  She’ll pick out shoes the 100% go with my outfit but that I wouldn’t necessarily pick.   They’re always a little bit more colorful than I would put on but I ALWAYS wear the ones she picks out and she loves it.

Yesterday, I picked out her pants and shirt with some white sandals and she was ADAMANT that she wear the Chucks again but this time she wanted the PINK sweatshirt.

Check her out (this is my new favorite picture):

image

There’s either a Sienna Miller or Nicole Richie picture out there on the interwebs that looks JUST like this.  I can’t find it though.

She’s got style!  Poor thing is stuck with un-stylish me!  Hopefully she’ll infuse some her style into Mommy.  I could use all the help I can get!

Saturday morning, Daddy got up with her and I hear “BUBBOES”  “BUBBOES”.  Daddy said, “Lu, bubbles are for outside, maybe Mama will take you to the park later and you can do bubbles.”

Her response?  “BUBBOES!” “BUBBOES!”

I walked out to this:

She got her bubboes!

Now, I bet you’re wondering what the first half of the title means.

Watch and see :)

18 Months Old!

Posted by Chelsea on Monday Mar 22, 2010 Under Infancy

I can’t believe that Lu is 18 months old.  She’s become such a KID but she’s still our baby.  We love her so much, she continues to amaze us every day!

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree it seems ;)

As you can see, she’s learned how to take off her diaper!  She’s been sitting on her potty and can tell us when she’s going potty but she hasn’t put the two together yet.  She has yet to go potty in the actual potty. :)

When she was nakey on Friday she peed in her plastic chair and then as I was cleaning the chair she was in the kitchen with me and started peeing again.  She looked at the pee like “WHAT IS THAT?!?!?  WHY IS THERE WATER coming out of me?”  I explained to her that it was pee and that’s what she did when she went potty.  I told her that her diaper catches it now and asked if she wanted to put her diaper back on.  She nodded her head emphatically “YES” and went and got a diaper for me to put on her.

How cute is she?

We have her 18 months appointment next Monday.  I’ll be sure to update you!  And just because it’s my favorite picture, here she is again!

Growing Up

Posted by Chelsea on Sunday Aug 16, 2009 Under Infancy

We’ve been working and playing hard! Lucy has gotten to be so much FUN! It’s not that she wasn’t fun before but she’s just blossomed. Her personality is coming out, she’s mobile, she plays with you and by herself, she giggles, she makes us laugh. It’s just a really fun age. Rather than a baby we have this little person in our house now :) She’s growing up and fast. Part of me is excited and another part of me is sad. There’s only a little over a month left until she turns 1 and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone. She’s even in a big girl carseat now! She’s also GROWN. We had our 6 week weight check-in this past week and she gained almost 2 pounds in 6 weeks! The doctor was very happy. She’s now right at 17 pounds and just over 28 inches-the 10th and 50th percentile respectively. She’s now has 9 teeth! She’s got her two bottom front teeth, her bottom front molars (on each side), her left eye tooth, left canine, left upper front, right upper front, and right eye tooth. For a few days there she had her left upper front, left eye tooth, and left canine tooth and NO right upper teeth-it was a funny sight. Last night the 2 left uppers came in so now she looks a little more even :)

In the last month Lucy has had visitors, she went camping at the beach (and successfully did a 4 hour car drive), and went to the park-many, many, MANY times!

Here’s some pictures!

Lucy Goes to the Park

Posted by Shaun on Sunday Jul 19, 2009 Under Infancy

Mommy had a bunch of work to do so Auntie Elaina and Uncle Richard came up to visit with their dog Brea. We took a trip to the park so that Mommy could have some quiet time to concentrate.

Lucy wasn’t at all afraid of Brea which was surprising to me since she was SO much bigger than Lucy and got right in Lucy’s face. I’m guessing Lucy is used to the cat mauling her for pets by this point.

Holy Molar!!!!

Posted by Chelsea on Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 Under Infancy

Lucy got another tooth last night and from the title you may have guessed that she got a molar!!! Her “left first molar” to be exact!

I called daycare yesterday at lunch to check in on her and they told me that she wasn’t eating and was being really fussy. Shaun and I thought we saw her pulling her ear on Sunday so I called the doctor. We went in and he told us that she may be refusing to eat for 2 reasons-either she’s finding her independence and wants to feed herself (which she promptly took food from my hand and signed for “more” when she was done to prove the doctor’s point) or that she’s getting her molars and her mouth hurts. “Her molars?” I asked, “but she only has her front 2 bottom teeth!” The doctor assured me that kids can get their teeth in any order and her molar looked like it was about to come through.

Sure enough, last night at 7-demon child arrived and left with her the outside edge of the left first molar!!! She is an individual-that’s for sure!

Here’s our little 3 teeth wonder:

Photobucket

Less than 12 hours after getting her third tooth Lucy decided it was time to stop practicing and time to START CRAWLING. I swear she’s been practicing for well over a month now but couldn’t really get anywhere except pushing herself backwards. Well-Not anymore! She’s crawling-check her out:

As you can see from the video she is VERY proud of herself!

An exciting 12 hours in the Titus household!!!

9 Month Appointment

Posted by Chelsea on Friday Jul 3, 2009 Under Infancy

Lucy had her 9 month appointment on Monday. It was a difficult appointment for Mommy. Lucy has always been little but at this weigh-in she slipped to under the 5th percentile for weight which concerns the doctor. It’s hard to hear that your doctor is concerned. Lucy is a great eater, the teachers at daycare have even commented that she’s probably going to be one of those people that can eat and eat and eat and never gain weight-kinda like her Dad. With all this eating she’s still only 15 pounds. Here were her stats:

Height: 27 Inches ~50th Percentile
Weight: 15 pounds even >5th Percentile
Head Circumference: 17.75 inches ~80th Percentile

Lucy has always had allergies or sensitivities. We can only use a certain kind of detergent, we can’t use wipes on her, only Huggies and 7th Generation diapers don’t give her a rash, most bath products give her a rash, when I eat milk it gives her a rash and on and on. I tried giving her yogurt at 7 months and she got a rash and eczema so we’ve been avoiding dairy. She also got a rash from soy formula and I thought a rash from wheat. I explained all of this to the doctor and he said that it didn’t sound like typical allergy symptoms and more like “sensitivities”. He would rather we deal with the rashes and give her a wide variety of food than limit her food intake. To be sure though, he got blood drawn and tested her for allergies. Lucy handled the blood draw like a champ-that was not fun-they take it out of their arm just like on an adult :( Her tests came back yesterday and she showed no allergies. I gave her wheat yesterday and today with no issue. I gave her some soy formula ~4 ounce the entire week (when I don’t pump enough) and she did get a rash on her chin but not too terribly bad. I’m starting to eat dairy again and I think I’m going to try dairy again with her on Sunday.

To tell the truth, I left her appointment on Monday in tears. It was a hard day. But, I am feeling much better about things and since then I started really pushing the solids. Before her appointment here was a typical day for Lucy:

~6:30 AM Nurse
~8:30 AM 2 ounces of fruit mixed with 1/8 cup cereal
~10:30 AM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~12:30 PM 4 ounces vegetables with 1/2 ounce protein (chicken, beef, or beans) and some veggies as finger foods
~1:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~4:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~6 PM Nurse
~6:30 PM 2 ounces of Vegetables, some protein and rice puffs as finger foods
~7:30 Nurse

And then she wakes up usually once to nurse in the middle of the night.

Well NOW she’s getting more than double the solids and still is taking the same amount of milk:

~6:30 AM Nurse
~8:30 AM 4 ounces of fruit mixed with 1/4 cup cereal
~10:30 AM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~12:30 PM 4 ounces vegetables with 1 ounce protein (chicken, beef, or beans) with 1/4 Avocado and 2 tsp of olive oil mixed in and 1/4 cup rice mixed in and some veggies as finger foods
~1:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~3:30 PM 2 ounces of fruit (new!)
~4:30 PM 5 ounces of Breastmilk
~6 PM Nurse
~6:30 PM 4 ounces of Vegetables mixed with 1/4 avocado and 2 tsp olive oil plus rice cereal, some protein and rice puffs as finger foods
~7:30 Nurse

Yes our little 15 pounder is eating ALL OF THAT! 1/2 an avocado a day!!! Insanity I tell you!!!

I’m feeling better about things and what I keep coming back to is that developmentally she’s doing wonderfully! She’s ahead of the curve in a lot of respects or right on the curve. She’s still not crawling but I’m okay with that!!! This week alone she’s gained 3 new signs. She now signs for: “More”, “All Done”, and “Change”. She’s been signing for “Milk” for a few months now. She’s also making more sounds-”Ma Ma Ma Ma” (only sometimes), “Ne Ne Ne Ne” (when she’s hungry), “OH” (when she drops something), and of course her favorite “Da Da Da Da”. She’s also clapping (and making noise!) and dancing. She becomes more and more like a kid everyday!

Now, to the pictures!
